Now when I imagine a New Orleans getaway, I think of green courtyards, sprouting fountains and a toast of bubbly at lunch hour. New Orleans for non-beginners means, we are staying outside the French Quarter. Why? Because we cherish our sleep.

Step into this chic, art-deco-inspired haven with exposed brick walls, brass accents, and a dash of vintage flair. The courtyard is dreamy—perfect for morning coffee or an evening cocktail. Rooms are stylish and cozy, with plush bedding and luxurious bathrooms. Bonus: The Publishers Suite is a must splurge, with a vintage clawfoot bathtub and views. Ask the front desk for the Jazzy Pass, a 24 hour free public transportation card that gets you access to the cable cars, and the ferry to Algiers!

This boutique gem boasts understated elegance with pastel tones and sleek modern décor. Located in the Marigny neighborhood, it’s ideal for those wanting to explore artsy, bohemian vibes. The rooftop offers sweeping views of the city. It’s intimate, hip, and just far enough from the hustle.
3. Marsh Hotel
Nestled in the Warehouse District, think concrete walls, minimalist furnishings, and pops of greenery. The location makes it perfect for gallery hopping or dining at trendy spots. Rooms are spacious, with spa-like bathrooms and comfy king-size beds. Their rooftop pool is a huge plus for unwinding after a day of exploring.
4. Pontchartrain Hotel
A St. Charles Avenue classic, the Pontchartrain oozes old-school glamour with a twist of modern sophistication. The floral wallpaper, velvet sofas, and antique touches transport you to a different era.

The menu leans Mediterranean-inspired with seasonal, local ingredients. Perfect for a date night that’s romantic and refined.
2. Dian Xin
When craving Chinese comfort food, this dim sum spot in the French Quarter hits all the right flavors. The soup dumplings and pork buns are standouts, and portions are perfect for sharing. It’s casual yet intimate, with warm lighting and friendly service. The soup dumplings definitely hit the spot on a rainy November day. Highly recommend.
3. Fives Oyster Bar
Hosting a happy hour complete with Gulf Oysters and Hurricanes. This cozy French Quarter spot is in Jackson Square and outfitted with knowledgeable bartenders and quirky industry local patrons. One of my favorite happy hours!
4. Paladar 511
A modern Italian gem in the Marigny, Paladar 511’s open kitchen and loft-like vibe set the stage for a special meal. Share the wood-fired pizza or ricotta gnocchi, and don’t skip dessert (the panna cotta is heavenly). The low lighting and relaxed vibe make it perfect for a romantic dinner, and the location is off the beaten path.

This French-inspired restaurant in the Bywater neighborhood feels like stepping into another world. Dine al fresco in the courtyard or cozy up inside the eclectic, candlelit space. Their tinned seafood and steak frites are standouts, paired with natural wines.

Tiki meets New Orleans in this playful, tropical paradise that goes all out for Christmas. The handcrafted cocktails are works of art served in collector tiki mugs, and the small plates like coconut shrimp and Vietnamese spring rolls hit the pre-dinner spot. It’s kitschy, Holiday fun, and perfect for getting the night started.

This enchanting courtyard restaurant in the French Quarter is oozing with Southern charm. Known for its Creole-inspired menu, highlights include the shrimp and grits and the duck confit salad. The garden setting with twinkling lights makes it one of the most romantic spots in the city.

Yes, it’s touristy, and the beignets and cafe au lait are iconic for a reason. We are huge fans. Go early, or late night and enjoy the classics. It’s a sweet and nostalgic way to start or end your night.

This charming spot in the Marigny is your go-to for the flakiest croissants and perfectly brewed coffee. The airy, minimalist decor makes it a serene spot for breakfast or brunch. Their savory pastries and matcha lattes are divine.

A breakfast haven tucked in the French Quarter, Café Fleur de Lis is where you go for a hearty, no-frills start to the day. Choose your Benedict, Stuffed French Toast or Biscuits & Gravy. Get a table on the balcony and order the Bloody Mary with Shrimp.

Majoria’s Commerce in the Bywater district feels like dining at a friend’s eclectic home. The Southern-inspired menu is famous for its fried chicken on a biscuit. The colorful decor and retro setting make it a hidden gem for less touristy breakfast.

American fare and creative cocktails served in a breezy, historical cottage with a pool & cabana bar. Hidden away in New Orleans’ charming Bywater neighborhood, The Country Club offers an elegant escape in a sophisticated setting. Don’t miss the Drag Brunch every Saturday and Sunday!

And just a few block from there, the most filed bar in Hollywood, Old Point Bar.
